What a whirlwind week we have had in Newgate Class!
We started our week in class together as we went on our first adventure into Storyworld! Our magic Storyworld box brought us a penguin and some feathers which we later discovered were a hint to our topic – The Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.
Following an announcement to close all schools in England, the SMA team were quick to create an online learning opportunity for all children. Our Google classroom and Zoomtastic children came together on Wednesday morning to make home learning the ‘new normal’. It has been so much fun, as we began our days dancing in our wake up shake ups, to then completing phonics challenges as a whole group.
All children have enjoyed their mathematical challenges this week. We have been focused on comparing objects using the mathematical language biggest and smallest. This has then been expanded to measuring objects using non-standard measurement techniques and some very smelly socks!
Memories have been made and we have not stopped smiling because although this is a challenging time in the wider world, our Newgate community is stronger than ever.
As a team we would like to thank you for your unbelievable support this week. The team have been overwhelmed by your trust, commitment and contribution to our online learning environment.
Together we hope to make the memories of a life time.
Stay safe and happy.
Miss Bowler, Mrs Bebbington and Mrs Thombs.
