Shipgate

ZOOMing into the weekend!

Well, what a week Shipgate have had. From starting the week in school, to finishing the week at home. The children have all done incredibly well to settle into home schooling life again. The Shipgate Team are so proud!

During our days in school, the children were able to complete definitions for the Iron Man key words (look out for some of them in your spellings this week). In Maths, Shipgate were able to delve into their Times Tables during their national competition and set number challenges for the ‘Act Your Age Children in Need Challenges’ for the rest of the school. In Topic, we enjoyed exploring Skara Brae and finding out what life was like during the Stone Age. They particularly enjoyed finding what remains have been left behind in the Oarkney Islands.

In Monday’s 30-minute blast, Shipgate enjoyed the challenge of the bleep test. During Tuesday’s session, with the focus being on football, the pupils were able to develop their defending ability by working in pairs.

Then during home schooling, Shipgate have been able to work digitally through the use of Google Classroom and Zoom. We are all thrilled with their behaviour and effort to learning online. Shipgate have been able to experience break out rooms, which has allowed us all to participate in group discussions.

The children have been able to carry on with Guided Reading, looking at Jazz Harper. In Literacy, the children have looked at acrostic poems and have been able to create their own acrostic poem for Remembrance Day. They have also looked at the Iron Man key phrases and have been able to work together to explore different meanings.

In Maths, the children have worked with squared and cubed numbers and they have consolidated their understanding of multiplying by 10 and 100. With Times Tables Rock Stars being a firm favourite, Shipgate have loved competing individually, as a class and as a school, against other schools in England.

We hope you have a restful weekend.
