Zooming Around The Unknown

Well, what a week! The Wolfgate Team and pupils I am sure have gone through every emotion this week. From excitement of getting back in the classroom and completing our WOW Day to being online within 24 hours of doing so. As ever, we have pulled together as one big team and made the best of a difficult situation.

Our theme this half term is ‘Celebrating the Storyteller’ we will be focusing on The Life and Works of Roald Dahl with links to History, Geography, and Science. We will be reading ‘The Errand’ in Literacy and writing a cliffhanger narrative and then a set of ¬†instructions on how to navigate through the enchanted forest.

On Monday, we were lucky enough to complete our WOW Day, which was brilliant. Children’s costumes were brilliant and we had a fantastic day. We tempered chocolate and put into moulds and when they were ready, we ate them! They were delicious. Following on from that activity, we then created our own chocolate bar wrapper using Wonka Bars for inspiration. In the afternoon, we got crafty. We made our own Dream Jars from The BFG using water, paint and cotton wool.

Then came the rest of the week. On Wednesday we started our online journey on Zoom and Google Classroom. We have started out Literacy scheme of work by making predictions and understanding some phrases from the vehicle text. In Maths, we have been understanding tenths and hundredths. We also completed our Stretch Projects this week, where the children led their own learning and created a presentation on a Roald Dahl Character of their choice.

It has been a strange and different week. The Wolfgate Team are extremely proud of our Wolfpack and thank parents for their support and patience with getting ourselves online. They are a credit to you and themselves.

Have a fabulous weekend!
