Eastgate kick started the week with a visit from Mr Roberts. The children were delighted to find out his family were part of the Windrush Generation who travelled from Jamaica to the UK. Mr Robert’s family connections to this historical period of time, inspired Eastgate to find out more. In celebration of Windrush Day, we wrote poetry like John Agard and started to read Benjmain Zephaniah’s book Windrush Child.
In science the children have been looking at electricity and are able to identify different sources of something we depend on so much. Eastgate have really enjoyed experimenting with circuits and have challenged themselves to record in scientific symbols. Next week we are looking forward to getting hands on and building circuits.
Eastgate have recapped their knowledge of money in mathematics this week. The children have demonstrated their confidence with recognising and selecting coins to make totals. As the week progressed, the children looked at addition and subtraction with real life application of exchanging money.
We are really looking forward to the residential this weekend. The Eastgate team will post photos on Twitter and Instagram so make sure to follow our adventures.
Have a restful weekend,
The Eastgate Team.
