Watergate’s World Book Week
Watergate have been extremely busy this week, from caring for newborn chicks to shopping for good reads in Chester! On Monday, ten eggs were delivered to the classroom. After caring for the eggs inside of an incubator, Watergate’s first little chick started pecking through. Five days later, we now have seven, fluffy, energetic chicks! Up to now, the children have loved caring for the chicks, this has heavily supported the children’s understanding of ‘The Life Cycle of a chicken’.
Reading has most certainly come to life in Watergate’s classroom. To add some more excitement and learning to the mix, Watergate have taken full advantage of World Book Week. The children have explored ‘Leaf’ by Sandra Dieckmann through conscience alley and art. On Tuesday, the children traded books with friends and through this, were able to receive and give recommendations to others. Watergate enjoyed joining the rest of the school walking to the library and Waterstones on Wednesday, where they signed up to the library and visited Waterstones to spend their World Book Day vouchers. Last but not least, Watergate had a fabulous time dressing up at their favourite book characters and showing off down the catwalk!
