The There Little Pigs Take Over Watergate!
What an exciting week we have had in Watergate! To kick start the week, on Monday, the children became scientists. They worked scientifically, to plan an investigation into the most suitable building material for the alternate ‘Three Little Pigs’. They explored the properties of three edible materials and made predictions based on what they had learnt about each of the materials.
Later in the week, the children worked in groups to build their edible houses. Watergate enjoyed raising questions and discussing their predictions. After successfully constructing their edible houses, the children prepared for the arrival of the Big Bad Wolf! After watching the experiment as a class, the findings concluded that the most suitable house to withstand the Big Bad Wolf’s huffs and puffs was the fudge house.
In Literacy, Watergate have continued their learning of the language features in a Traditional Tale. We have used actions to retell the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. This has helped the children to begin to write the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ in a sequence and they have started to think about how they would write their own version of the story.
Complementing our Literacy work, in drama, the children have been immersed into the world of the alternative ‘Traditional Tale’. They thoroughly enjoyed adapting well known Traditional Tales. It has been lovely to see the children’s acting confidence growing whilst performing.
Have a great weekend.
The Watergate Team.
