Spanish, Shackleton and lots of Singing!
Shipgate have had an amazing first full week back! They have been lucky enough to have singing with Mr Jones on Wednesday and delved into their new project of the Young Ambassador Award on Thursday.
In Literacy this week, the children have made predictions about our new text, using pictures from the book. Later in the week, they began to explore the key vocabulary from the text, by researching definitions, synonyms and antonyms. The discussion and ideas from Shipgate about our new text have been incredible.
In Maths, Shipgate continued learning about place value. At the beginning of the week they focused on rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 before focusing on ordering and comparing various numbers. Shipgate have worked incredibly hard with our new White Rose Maths place value work. Well done Shipgate!
During our topic work this week, Shipgate have continued to explore the life of Sir Ernest Shackleton. They enjoyed creating fact files and a sketch of his ship ‘Endurance.’ In Spanish, Shipgate began learning about time and enjoyed playing a game of dominos to match the time on a clock with the written Spanish time!
Our PE sessions this week were based on fitness. During our theory session, the children learnt about the five components of fitness. Following the theory lesson, the children tested each one of the components of fitness during their practical sessions. Shipgate were thrilled to go swimming on Friday and the way they represented the school was brilliant.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
