This week we have celebrated children’s mental health awareness week. Every afternoon this week we have completed wellbeing challenges from a ‘Draw with Rob’ session, focusing on our gratitude attitude or having a digital detox and challenging the lego masters themselves! Wellbeing is very important for us all to focus on as we conclude our 5th week of teaching and learning remotely. We therefore as a team encourage you to do something fun and active this weekend, a walk or even just a disco in your living room but have FUN as a family!
In mathematics this week we have been revisiting our knowledge of 2D shapes, looking at their properties and identifying those shapes in our everyday life. We have then developed our understanding of shapes by exploring 3D shapes. The children have really enjoyed singing 3D shape songs and going on shape hunts! We are very impressed with your accurate use of mathematical language!
Phonics has blown us away this week as we continue to look at the Set 3 sounds! We cannot believe the phonics progress the children are displaying. On Monday a phonics quiz will be set as an assignment to ensure that Newgate children have a secure understanding of the taught sounds. Any sounds the children haven’t secured in Set 2 or Set 3 will be reintroduced after half term.
Thank you for your overwhelming support. We hope you have a restful weekend and we will see you on Monday!
