Scooter School Success!

In Newgate this week, we have all completed our scooter school training! Even in this autumnal weather, the children are now confident to wrap up warm to use and apply their knowledge to stop, look, listen and think when walking, cycling or riding your bike in the local area. In other areas, we have listened to road safety stories and even completed road safety counting activities. In celebration of our achievements the children will receive a gift of a scooter school certificate and a high-vis vest to wear on the commute to and from school.

To continue our topic of Festivals and Cultural Celebrations we have learnt about Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of light. The children have listened and discussed the traditional story of Hanukkah and discussed the menorah tradition and symbol. Every child has then designed and decorated the Star of David in celebration of the learning around the Jewish faith. We would like to thank the Travers family for their contribution to our teaching and learning this week. We are sure you will join us in thanking them for their gift of a dreidel- a traditional game you can play at home as a family during Hanukkah celebrations.

In mathematics, we have introduced addition. The children have been excellent in reading and completing number sentences to 10. The children have found beyond 10 challenging to record and therefore we will be continuing this focus into next week!

In our classroom we have welcomed Miss Briggs, a PGCE associate teacher from Chester University. Miss Briggs has settled in very well within the classroom and is building relationships with the children and team.

Please refer to the homework blog and thank you for your continued support,

Miss Bowler, Mrs Bebbington, Mrs Thombs and Miss Briggs.
