This week Northgate have continued their research on their chosen dance answering key questions they have thought of such as country of origin, when it was first discovered, what styles of dance does it include and so on. They used this knowledge to create an information poster and draft an explanation text on their dance. They also discovered a well-known artist from that country and will be creating art work in their style.
Northgate have also developed their storytelling skills further by ‘boxing up’ the story Jack and the Beanstalk and have imitated the story using complex sentences (subordinate and embedded clauses), direct speech and using prefixes and suffixes. The children will use this to innovate and invent their own fairytale story next week.
In maths the children have focused their efforts on securing their knowledge of times tables, particularly using repeated addition when they are less confident. The children are practising their times tables daily in school but please practise these at home. By the end of Northgate they should be able to confidently recall their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 x table and more would be even better.
Northgate celebrated their last week of dance this term by creating a KS2 showcase in which all three classes performed the choreography they have learned with Victoria this term.
A great week of learning, well done Northgate.
