Microorganism Masters!

Shipgate have had a super week!

During literacy this week, Shipgate have been identifying language features within a given text and thinking about how these features have an effect on the reader. Also, the children have been describing the character of the beast through word gathering. Finally, within literacy, Shipgate have created their plans for their own dilemma narratives.

Within maths, the children have been reading roman numerals to 1000, recapping their Year 5 knowledge on place value and adding whole numbers with up to six digits!

Topic work this week has allowed the children to learn all about the different climates within mountainous regions. Shipgate researched the daily weather for their given mountains and compared this to a yearly average data grid to see if the weather was typical for this time of year.

Penultimately, during science this week, Shipgate have been describing and investigating helpful and harmful microorganisms. They began their experiment to find out the conditions that allow mould to grow on bread.

Finally, year 5 continued to deepen their learning on worldwide pilgrimages this week by learning all about the role of a pilgrimage in Hinduism.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!

The Year 5 team.
