St Martin’s Academy is at an exciting time of its journey. As a growing primary school situated in Hoole, Chester we opened in 2013 as part of the national Free Schools Program with a class of 25 children in reception, our plan was to grow one class per year, we achieved this and from September 2019 we have 175 children on role. Offering an extended day, full wrap around care and smaller class sizes has ensured the Academy offers a choice of provision within the local context and has been oversubscribed since opening.

Behind the successful teaching team sits a proactive support team who collaborate with the teachers and parents to ensure the smooth running of the school. An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Kitchen Assistant. The role will join a team of talented and enthusiastic chefs whose directive is not to hide the veggies for fussy eaters, to listen to the children who are, adapt menus to suit, broaden their minds and encourage them to try new foods; whilst ensuring that the food served is of the highest nutritional value.  You could see this as a challenge, however seeing 175 children on Wednesday roast day all asking for seconds is a rewarding one.

St Martin’s Academy places the highest priority on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants for all posts will be subject to stringent vetting and induction processes. The holder of this post will be required to work with children under the age of 18 in a position of trust, and is, therefore, exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
