Inquisitive Illustrators

What a wonderful and creative week we have had in Newgate class. We have been looking at the illustrations in the story Little Red. After our visit from the author Bethan Woollvin, we found out that she was inspired by the artist Henri Matisse. His artwork has therefore influenced creative activities this week.

We created similar backgrounds by using different vegetables to print the shapes of the trees to represent the forest. The children led the learning by requesting it to be a black, white and grey theme; the red would then surprise our readers.

We also re-created the front cover of Little Red by using a variety of resources to create a targeted result. Very impressive Newgate!

Next week we are going to the ice cream farm on Thursday 18th July. The children will need to be dressed in Summer Uniform and they will not need a change of clothes. Please can you ensure that every child has suncream applied prior to attending school. Book-bags are not required this day.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Newgate Team
