Fantastic First Aiders!

Shipgate have been learning about all things first aid this week and have become trained in basic first aid. A lovely lady called Kerrie came to visit us from St John’s Ambulance and taught us about a number of things about first aid. The children enjoyed working together to learn about a variety of different concepts such as how to: put someone in the recovery position, administer basic first aid to stop severe bleeding by using plasters and bandages, stop someone from choking and help someone who has just fainted.

A fantastic effort was given from everyone and we are very proud of all the children – well done Shipgate.

As well as this, in their English work the children have been drafting their ‘Escape from Pompeii’ stories, working hard to include everything that they have learnt over the past few weeks. Shipgate have also been very busy mathematicians, consolidating their understanding of ratio and proportion by solving word problems.

Finally, the children have been fascinated to learn how Tsunamis are formed and how we, as a nation, can help those who have been affected by them. Likewise, Shipgate have thoroughly enjoyed becoming newspaper reporters and reporting on the miracle that was ‘The Man at the Pool of Bethesda.’

Have another great weekend everyone.
