Shipgate have had a great week!
During literacy this week, Shipgate have been working hard on their own dilemma narratives. The children have also spent time editing their own work and peer assessing one another.
Within maths, the children have been subtracting up to 6-digit numbers using the column subtraction method. They have also been rounding numbers to check answers to a certain level of accuracy and have solved multi-step addition and subtraction problems.
Topic work this week has allowed the children to learn about how tourism has an impact on mountain regions. We looked at both the positive and negative aspects of this and discussed these as a class.
During science this week, Shipgate have been identifying characteristics of different types of microorganisms. We specifically compared the difference between eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells.
Finally, on Thursday it was world mental health day. The children spent time reflecting on what makes them happy and created a piece of art work dedicated to this.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
The Year 5 team.
